Two Years of The Refinery — Hard Work Pays Off

From 2011 to 2013, women-led companies received only 2.7% of venture refineryctcapital funding. That’s one of the reasons Westport-based The Refinery was founded in mid-2014: to fuel the growth of women-led companies and close this funding gap.  The success of  Refinery Founders Jen Gabler and Janis Collins in developing the program, recruiting and managing a strong array of advisors, coaches and partners and then driving great results  is one of the true bright spots on the CT startup scene.

Here’s a really high level view of the accomplishments of The Refinery to date:

  • Recruited Dozens of Advisors
  • Delivered thousands of hours of classes, consulting and advising
  • Helped Refinery Startups raise $7+ Million
  • Graduated 31 Early Stage Companies

So let’s celebrate what they’ve done at the Refinery’s 2 Year Anniversary.

What sets The Refinery team apart is their remarkable work ethic, and the hard work they expect from each cohort. They push each team to get better and better at understanding customer needs, their technology plan, their financial outlook and then clearly articulating their businesses value to customers, partners and investors. What emerges at the end of each Refinery session is a set of startups who really know their business — and have a rock-solid foundation that will allow them to make great things happen.

Next Wednesday, 4/27, from 6-9pm, Refinery startups, friends, investors and other startup leaders will be filling the halls of the Stamford Innovation Center as we celebrate the Refinery’s two year anniversary celebration.

Along with great food and drink, the event will feature:

  • Showcase of Refinery Alumni
  • Pitches by the Current Cohort
  • Inspirational talk by Steve Obsitnik, Imagine Connecticut
  • Special Announcement by Connecticut Innovations

All are invited to attend this event. For more info, please click here. Note: The registration fee will be used for the Audience Award.
