Startup Weekend Stamford released its list of prizes for the entrepreneurship contest for April 10-12, which this year includes six months of co-working space at the Stamford Innovation Center.
The event is expected to draw participants from throughout the Northeast, with entrepreneurs getting the chance to “pitch” their plans to an audience of designers and others interested in startups, beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 10. Those voted to have the best ideas then form teams to hammer out a business plan with advice from mentors, with some teams showing up at the Sunday evening awards ceremony with a bare-bones working prototype.
This year’s judging panel includes Tracy Killoren Chadwell, an angel investor; Steve Laitmon, CEO of the Calendar Group; and state Sen. Bob Duff, D-25.
Besides free co-working space at the Stamford Innovation Center, other prizes this year include marketing strategy and brand development from Launch Unlimited; patent assistance from Damian Wasserbauer; trademark application help from SSJR; and management consulting and patent writing tips from Life in Mobile.
Tickets range from $30 for Friday night and Sunday night spectator seats; to $125 for developers and designers and $135 for non-technical participants, with student tickets $105. Information is online under the Stamford Startup Weekend link at Stamford.up.co.
