With the outline of an app to help yacht owners find dock space while cruising the coast, SlipShare won the fourth annual Startup Weekend Stamford on Sunday night at the Stamford Innovation Center.
The contest pits entrepreneurs in a 54-hour marathon to pull together a startup idea alongside team members with whom they have never worked, getting input from seasoned developers, designers and business professionals.
Led by Paul Norton, SlipShare beat out eight other teams for the top prize, which includes six months free space at the Stamford Innovation Center. The runner-up was CollegeXchange, the brainchild of Quinnipiac University student David Quito who conceived the idea of an online exchange for student-run businesses to market their products and services.
Taking third place was Punctual Payments, which developed a mechanism to help small businesses collect invoices in a speedier and more efficient manner.
