The Stamford Innovation Center announced today that it is joining forces with the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Stamford to offer a program focused on helping women who are returning to the workforce to acquire the skills and support they need. Classes begin on March 3 and will take place at the JCC’s location at 1035 Newfield Avenue in Stamford.  Registration is now open at

“In the spring of 2014, we led a similar program at the Stamford Innovation Center and both the participants and the hiring companies were delighted with the results,” said Lesley Stroll, who leads educational programming for the Innovation Center.  “Our hope is that by partnering with the JCC we are able to extend our reach and help even more of the talented women of Fairfield County who are seeking to return to the workforce.”

The program consists of two core components:

  • A 5-week session on Career Options and Job Search Tactics (March 3, 10, 17, 24, and April 6)
  • A 5-week session on Resume Building and Career Skills (April 13, 20, 27, May 4)

In the final session in May, local employers will give informational interviews to program participants and provide feedback on job search strategies.

“We know from our personal lives that there are thousands of talented women in our region who take time off for child-rearing and other family-related reasons,” said Barry Schwimmer, Managing Partner, Stamford Innovation Center.  “Our hope is that through this program we can assist in the sometimes daunting task of re-entry to the workforce.  The business world has changed in many ways since these women left the workforce, but there is always a need for talent and experience.”
