It ain’t easy starting a business. Uncertainty, risk and loneliness all make it a tough road. At the Stamford Innovation Center, we’ve been putting together programs that make it easier to get the answers you need and meet great people along the way.
This Fall, and into the Winter, we’ve got great classes, meetups and events planned that continue this run of thought-provoking events. With events like these you can understand today’s e-commerce and retail, how to research and build your product, or just watch an awesome pitch competition. Keep an eye on the Innovation Center as we roll out an impressive calendar!
Yale, Skyler, Ivy, Bob and more…
In October, our Yale Entrepreneurship Institute Startup pitch night drew a full house to watch some amazing young startups pitch. Just a week after that event, VC Skyler Fernandes delivered a remarkable breakdown of what is going on in the world of retail and online commerce. Here’s a tip — look up the term “reverse showrooming” — it’s a thing.
Building on that momentum, Ivy Eisenberg’s class on Lean Startup Development is in progress and the students are drilling down into what it takes to understand who your customer is and what they want, in the most cost-efficient manner possible. And almost like we planned it, Startup Owner’s Manual author Bob Dorf will come back to the Stamford Innovation Center on Nov. 18th to talk Lean Startups in a talk he titled “Startup Heavyweight gives the Skinny on Lean” on Weds, November 18 at 6:30pm.
IBM is in the House
And if architecture is your thing, we have IBM Cloud tech evangelist Remko deKnippper on hand for the Stamford IOT (Internet of Things) Meetup on Monday, November 23rd at 6:30pm. Thanks to our new sponsor, IBM, for helping our startups leverage the cloud in a strategic manner.
The Place to Up Your Startup Game
If there seems to be a pattern developing, you are right. The Innovation Center is creating a steady stream of events, classes and meetups that give you the opportunity to learn the ropes, hear from the best, or just meet great people who are also engaged in creating new things. Skyler, Bob and speakers to come are all part of our Executive Speaker Series, to be held on the 3rd Weds of every month (unless otherwise advertised); and our Spring Startup Event Series will take you from tech to product to pitch. Meanwhile, our weekly & monthly meetups provide a smaller scale way to get involved.
And we’ll always make sure there is food and drink and give you plenty of time for networking.
We’re locking down a schedule of startup events for the next seven months that is just outstanding and we look forward to seeing you there. Below is an overview with links to some of our scheduled events – mark your calendars as these and others to be planned provide world-class speakers, tech and events to the Stamford tech community!
But first, we party:
