In Fairfield County, ingenuity rules.
Local startups showed up and shined at our 2nd Annual SIC Startup Pitch Night, cohosted by the Angel Investor Forum. During a night of inspirational speeches, ceremony, and delectable snacks, AIF presented two startups with prizes in a pitch competition.
“We’re always delighted to help support the growth of early stage companies and their founders,” said AIF president Ed Goodwin. “If we can incent startups to work on delivering great, concise presentations, we’re convinced the quality of startups overall will improve.”
The grand prize went to Talino EV‘s CEO Henry Abreau and cofounder Marc Ira. Using smart, business-enabled electric vehicles, Talino EV has created dynamic, pay-as-you-go plans that lower the starting price on eco-friendly transport, allowing everyone to enjoy its planet-saving qualities.
Second prize was awarded to Abby Ayoub, founder of Optical Academy. Optical Academy is a fully mobile unit that brings eye exams and expertise to locals schools, using state-of-the-art equipment and a certified Vision Team to ensure every child has the vision care they need to learn.
“We are meeting a remarkable array of startup leaders here at the Stamford Innovation Center,” said SIC managing partner Barry Schwimmer. “This is an opportunity to congratulate the best of the best on a job well done.”
In addition, awards were presented to the CEOs of two Fairfield County startups:
- The Abraham Davenport Light a Candle Award for Most Fearless Leaders of a Startup: Sal Syed (CEO) and Ammad Faisal (COO) of Arccos Golf. Arccos celebrated their launch just this year as their app went nationwide in the Apple Store.
- The John Mackie Brown Award for the Hardest Working Startup Leader: Joshua Aferzon of Orthozon Technologies. Orthozon is developing bleeding-edge technology to revolutionize the way spinal surgery is performed.
